Psychics and mediums who sell readings online usually do it one of three ways: through a psychic network like Keen, Kasamba, Purple Garden, or California Psychics; through DMs and a payment app; or through a booking link of their own. All three work. They fit different readers.
If you already have followers on TikTok or Instagram who ask "do you do private readings?", this guide is for you. It covers what each option does well, where it stops, what to sell first, how to price it, and how to set up a paid video reading your followers can book and pay for from your bio.
The Short Answer
To sell psychic or mediumship readings over video, set up one booking link that shows your open times, takes payment when the client books, asks your intake questions, and hosts the video call. Put that link in your TikTok and Instagram bio. Start with two or three priced sessions, such as a 15-minute one-question reading, a 30-minute reading, and a 45-minute mediumship session.
Your followers want a reading, not a DM thread.
One link for booking, video, and payment. Clients pay by card when they book. You keep 90% on the free plan.
Option 1: Psychic Networks (Keen, Kasamba, Purple Garden, California Psychics)
Psychic networks bring the clients to you. That is their real strength. A new reader with no audience can apply, pass the network's screening, set a per-minute rate, and start taking calls and chats from people who are already on the site looking for a reader.
Where networks stop:
You do not own the client relationship. The client is the network's customer. Your profile, reviews, and rate live on their site, under their rules. If you leave, the reviews stay.
Per-minute billing shapes the reading. Clients watch the meter. That works for quick questions. It works less well for a mediumship session that needs time to settle in, or a full spread with follow-up questions.
Your share is set by them. Networks show clients the per-minute price. The share the reader keeps is set in the advisor agreement, which most networks do not show on the client-facing site. Where it is published, it can be large: the advisor terms for Purple Ocean (posted on purplegarden.co, last updated September 16, 2026) deduct a $0.39 per-minute video connection fee and then a 64% platform fee from what remains. Read the advisor agreement before you sign, and work out what you keep from a 30-minute reading.
You still have to pass their screening. Most networks screen new readers before they can take paid calls.
A network is a good choice if you have no audience yet and want volume. If people already follow you, you are sending your own followers to someone else's storefront.
Option 2: DMs and a Payment App
This is how most readers with a following start. A follower DMs you, you agree on a time, they send money through PayPal, Venmo, or Cash App, and you call them on FaceTime, WhatsApp, or Zoom.
It works for a few readings a week. It gets hard to manage around ten:
- Scheduling back-and-forth. Every booking takes several messages before a time is set, often across time zones.
- Payment timing. If they pay after the reading, some will not pay. If they pay before, you are tracking who paid in a notes app.
- No-shows. Nothing reminds the client, so some forget.
- No intake. You ask the same questions in every DM.
- No record. There is no single place that ties a payment to a reading to a client.
Option 3: Your Own Booking Link
A booking link puts the whole thing behind one URL. The client picks a time from your real availability, answers your intake questions, pays, and gets a confirmation with the video link. You show up and read.
What to look for:
Video built in. The reading should happen on the same platform the client booked on, in the browser, with no app to download. Every extra step between "I paid" and "I am on the call" is a chance to lose the client.
Payment at booking, by card. Many of your followers do not have, or do not want to use, a PayPal account. They should be able to pay by card from their phone.
Your real availability. Calendar sync so clients only see times you are actually free.
Intake questions. So you know the question before the call starts.
A clear, published fee. You should know exactly what you keep from every reading before your first one.
Talkspresso is built for this. You get one link for booking, video, and payment. Clients book and pay by card or PayPal, answer your intake questions, and join the video reading in their browser from the confirmation link. The free plan charges 10% of each booking; Pro is $29.95 per month with a 0% platform fee. PayPal processing is a separate line on both plans. There is no follower minimum, and you can be live the same day.
What to Sell First
Start with two or three sessions. More choices slow people down.
| Session | Length | What the client gets | Suggested starting price |
|---|---|---|---|
| One-question reading | 15 min | One focused question, one spread or one sitting | $20 to $35 |
| Full reading | 30 min | A full spread or reading plus follow-up questions | $40 to $75 |
| Mediumship session | 45 min | Time to connect, plus questions | $75 to $150 |
The 15-minute reading matters more than it looks. It is the easiest yes for a follower who has watched your videos for months but has never booked a reader. Name it plainly: "15-Minute One-Question Tarot Reading" tells a follower exactly what they are buying. "Soul Session" does not.
Do not make your first session free. On Talkspresso, creators who offered a free session got some bookings but rarely got paid: of the providers with a free service who were booked, 1 in 8 earned any money. Of the providers with only paid services who got booked, every one was paid. A free session teaches your followers that your time is free. A $20 one-question reading does not.
Intake Questions for Readers
Ask only what you need before the reading. Three to four questions is plenty.
For tarot and psychic readings:
- What is your question, or the area you want the reading to focus on?
- Is there anything you want me to know before we start? (optional)
For mediumship:
- Is there someone in particular you hope to connect with? Their first name and your relationship are enough. (optional)
- Anything you want me to know before we start? (optional)
For everyone: a short line confirming the client understands what a reading is. Many readers use something like "Readings are for personal insight and entertainment and are not medical, legal, or financial advice." Some cities and states regulate paid fortune telling, so check the rules where you live.
How to Run the Reading on Video
- Frame your table. If you read cards, set your camera so the client can see the spread. A phone on a small stand above the table works.
- Light your face from the front. A window or a cheap ring light in front of you, not behind.
- Start on time and end on time. The 15-minute reading is 15 minutes. If the client wants more, that is what the 30-minute session is for.
- Offer the next booking at the end. "If you want to go deeper on this, the 30-minute reading is on my page." Say it once, then stop.
Get Your Link in Front of Your Followers in Week One
The first week matters most. On Talkspresso, 20 of the 37 real bookings in 2026 came within 7 days of the creator signing up, and creators more than 90 days past signup got 5 bookings all year, none of them paid. Readers who got paid shared their link right away, on the platforms where their followers already were.
- Put the link in your TikTok and Instagram bio the day you set it up.
- Post one video that says it out loud. "I am opening 15-minute readings this week. Link in bio." Pin it.
- Use your LIVEs. When someone in a LIVE asks a personal question, answer briefly and tell them private readings are in your bio.
- Add it to a story with a link sticker on Instagram, and leave it up for 24 hours.
- Reply to "do you do readings?" DMs with the link instead of a time negotiation.
What You Keep
Here is what three common setups look like on Talkspresso's free plan, before PayPal processing:
| Readings per month | Price | Gross | You keep after 10% |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20 one-question readings | $25 | $500 | $450 |
| 15 full readings | $45 | $675 | $607.50 |
| 8 mediumship sessions | $100 | $800 | $720 |
Once you pass about $300 a month in bookings, Pro at $29.95 per month with a 0% platform fee costs less than the 10% fee.
Which Option Fits You
- No audience yet, want volume now: start on a psychic network.
- A few readings a month from friends: DMs and a payment app are fine.
- Followers who already ask for private readings: your own booking link. You keep the client, you set the price and the length, and you know your fee before your first reading.
You can also do both: stay on a network for the volume and send your own followers to your own link.
