This Privacy Policy describes how Talkspresso (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you use our website at talkspresso.com and our related services (collectively, the “Service”).
By using Talkspresso, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account Information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, profile photo, bio, and areas of expertise.
- Profile Content. Creators and experts may add service descriptions, pricing, availability, and other content to their public profiles.
- Communications. Messages you send through the platform, support requests, and any other content you submit to us.
Information Collected Through Third-Party Services
- Payment Information. We use Stripe to process payments. Stripe collects your payment card details directly. We do not store your full card number, expiration date, or CVV on our servers. We receive limited transaction details (amount, last four digits, billing address) from Stripe to maintain records and provide receipts.
- Google Calendar Data. If you connect your Google Calendar, we access your calendar events to display your availability and create bookings. We read and write calendar events solely for scheduling purposes. See Section 9 for details on how we handle Google user data.
- Video Sessions. We use Vonage (OpenTok) to power video calls. Session metadata (duration, participant count, connection quality) is collected automatically. Sessions may be recorded when all participants provide consent.
- AI-Generated Content. With your consent, we use OpenAI to generate session summaries and transcripts from recorded sessions. The content of your sessions is sent to OpenAI for processing. See Section 5 for details on how third parties handle this data.
Information Collected Automatically
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use our website. GA4 collects anonymized usage data including pages visited, session duration, referral source, and general location (country/region level). Google may set cookies for this purpose.
- Server Logs. Our web servers automatically record standard log data including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and timestamps.
- Cookies and Authentication Tokens. We use cookies to store JSON Web Tokens (JWTs) that keep you logged in. These are functional cookies required for the Service to work. See Section 7 for more details.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the Service. Create and manage your account, process bookings, facilitate video sessions, handle payments, and deliver session recordings and summaries.
- Communicate with You. Send booking confirmations, reminders, receipts, and other transactional emails via SendGrid. We may also send product updates and announcements (you can opt out of non-transactional emails at any time).
- Manage Scheduling. Sync with your Google Calendar to show accurate availability and prevent double-bookings.
- Improve the Service. Analyze usage patterns through Google Analytics to understand how people use Talkspresso and make improvements.
- Maintain Security. Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.
- Comply with Legal Obligations. Respond to legal requests and enforce our terms.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for purposes unrelated to providing and improving the Service.
3. Session Recordings and AI Processing
- Recording Consent. Video sessions are only recorded when all participants have provided consent prior to or at the start of the session. Participants are notified when recording is active.
- Storage. Session recordings are stored on our content delivery network (CDN) and are accessible to the session participants (the creator/expert and the client).
- AI Summaries and Transcripts. If you opt in, recorded sessions may be processed by OpenAI to generate summaries and transcripts. This means the audio or video content of your session is sent to OpenAI’s servers for processing. OpenAI’s use of this data is governed by their data processing terms. We do not use session content to train AI models.
- Deletion. You can request deletion of your session recordings at any time. See Section 6.
4. How We Share Your Information
We share your personal information only in the following circumstances:
- With Other Users. Your profile information (name, photo, bio, expertise, services, pricing) is visible to other users of the platform. Session participants can see each other’s names and profile photos.
- With Service Providers. We share data with third-party companies that help us operate the Service (listed in Section 5). These providers are contractually required to use your data only for the purposes we specify.
- For Legal Reasons. We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request. We may also disclose information to protect the rights, safety, or property of Talkspresso, our users, or the public.
- Business Transfers. If Talkspresso is acquired, merged, or sells substantially all of its assets, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
