Life coaching is a partnership between a coach and a client aimed at helping individuals achieve personal and professional goals through guidance, support, and accountability.
What is life coaching?
Life coaching is a structured relationship where you work with a trained professional to identify your goals, break negative cycles, and develop actionable steps. I describe it to new clients as a focused partnership. You bring your hopes, challenges, and patterns. I bring deep listening, pattern recognition, and specific tools from my background in leadership, intuitive guidance, and hypnosis.
- Life Coaching
- A process where a certified coach supports a client in achieving personal or professional goals through structured conversations, accountability, and customized strategies.
Unlike therapy, which often focuses on healing past wounds, life coaching looks forward. It is about moving from where you are now to where you want to be. In my practice in Los Angeles, I often see women who are tired of reliving the same loops, same arguments, same disappointments, same doubts. Life coaching is where the cycle stops, and growing something new begins.
The International Coaching Federation (ICF) defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. This is not advice-giving or therapy. It is a real-time collaboration, rooted in deep listening, intuitive questioning, and practical action planning.
Life coaching explained
Let me break down what happens in a typical life coaching relationship. You, the client, set the agenda. We clarify what you want, whether it's a career change, better relationships, or more confidence. My job is to ask the right questions, reflect what I hear, and help you see the beliefs and habits that keep you stuck.
- Pattern Recognition
- A coaching technique where the practitioner identifies recurring thoughts, behaviors, or emotional triggers that impact a client's progress.
In my Elite Intuitive Mentoring™ programs, I often use tools like the Wheel of Life, deep-listening exercises, and hypnosis (from my Quantum Healing Hypnosis training) to help you access your own insights. We set specific, measurable goals. Each session builds on the last, with real accountability. You walk away knowing exactly what to work on next.
Life coaching is not a quick fix or a pep talk. It is a process. At Cal State Fullerton, where I earned my MBA, I learned how to break down large challenges into manageable steps. I bring that same rigor to my coaching. We look at your patterns, your environment, and your relationships. We use real tools, journaling, values assessments, and communication frameworks, so you can see your progress in real time.
- Accountability
- A core component of coaching, where the coach helps the client set commitments and follows up on progress, increasing the likelihood of achieving goals.
I remember coaching a client in West LA who was stuck in a cycle of overworking and burnout. She came to me after years of trying to fix things on her own. Through weekly sessions, pattern recognition exercises, and guided hypnosis, she started to see the beliefs that kept her saying yes to everyone but herself. By session 6, she had set boundaries at work, carved out time for creativity, and felt more in control than she had in years. That’s the kind of shift I see when coaching is applied with intention and structure.
What are the benefits of life coaching?
The benefits of life coaching are concrete and measurable. Clients report increased clarity, improved decision-making, and greater confidence. In my Circle of Elevated Ladies groups, I see women break out of old patterns, speak up in meetings, and make changes they had put off for years.
One key benefit is accountability. When you commit to a coach, you are much more likely to follow through on your goals. According to the International Coaching Federation’s 2023 Global Coaching Study, 80% of clients report improved self-confidence, and over 70% see improved work performance and communication skills after coaching. These are not abstract numbers. I have seen them play out in my practice with women in Los Angeles who move from self-doubt to self-leadership within a few months.
Personalized support: Sessions adapt to your needs, whether you want to focus on relationships, career, or self-growth.
Pattern interruption: We identify and break the habits and beliefs that keep you stuck.
Real accountability: You set goals, and I check in on your progress every session.
Skill development: Communication mastery, leadership, and boundary-setting are woven into every session.
Over 70% of coaching clients report improved work performance, relationships, and communication skills.
International Coaching Federation, 2023If you have ever felt like you are repeating the same mistakes, coaching can help you see the pattern and choose something new. The transformation is not always dramatic at first. Sometimes it is as simple as saying no to a request that drains you, or speaking your truth in a meeting. Over time, these small shifts add up to a completely different life.
How does life coaching work?
Life coaching usually starts with a discovery session. In my practice, this is a 30-minute conversation where we clarify your goals and see if coaching is the right fit. From there, we set up a series of sessions, either one-on-one or in a group like the Circle of Elevated Ladies.
Intake and goal-setting: We define your vision and what you want to achieve.
Pattern recognition: We look for repeating loops or self-sabotage, using tools like journaling or hypnosis if it serves you.
Action planning: We break your goals into concrete steps. Each session ends with a commitment.
Accountability and support: I check in on your progress, help you tweak your approach, and celebrate wins.
My Elite Intuitive Mentoring™ packages run for 6 or 12 weeks, with 90-minute sessions that go deep. We might use hypnosis techniques from Quantum Healing Hypnosis to help you access subconscious beliefs. Or we might focus on communication skills, using exercises from my E-RYT500 yoga teacher training to get you grounded before a big conversation. Every session is tailored to what you need most.
Consistency is key. Most clients meet weekly or biweekly. Progress is tracked over time, not just by how you feel but by what changes in your life. Did you have the hard conversation? Did you set a new boundary? Did you take a step toward the career or relationship you want? That is how you know coaching is working.
Life coaching and personal growth
Personal growth is at the heart of life coaching. The process is not about fixing you, it is about helping you see your own strengths and act on them. I have worked with clients who start out feeling overwhelmed and end up leading teams, starting businesses, or repairing relationships they thought were beyond saving.
Growth looks different for everyone. For some, it is about healing old wounds and moving forward. For others, it is about learning to communicate clearly or take risks. My training with Yoga Alliance and the American Hypnosis Association gives me a wide range of tools, from mindfulness practices to subconscious pattern work, to help you grow in the way that matters most to you.
In Los Angeles, I see a lot of high-achieving women who have mastered the art of getting things done for others but struggle to put themselves first. Coaching is where you learn to listen to your own needs, set priorities, and make choices that support your vision. Growth is not linear, but with the right support, it is always possible.
