Overview:
What's this about?
This online creative journaling workshop series is a sacred space for women of African heritage who often times have to juggle & navigate through the intersectionality of demanding roles be it as an employee, self-employed, stay-at-home mum, carer, Home-educator, etc all the while having no option to turn away & avoid the near daily encounters of micro-aggressions, passive aggressiveness & discrimination that undertones systemic racism, leaving us pouring from a half-full cup or even running on dry leaving nothing for ourselves.
This workshop serves as a gentle reminder to acknowledge how far you’ve come, and an invitation to pour into your own cup allowing you to then pour from a fuller cup.
There are 5 sessions in total.
So, what does each session entail?
Session 1: Where are you – Metaphorically speaking?
You’ll feel supported as you learn through a guided exercise how to creatively articulate your experience using metaphors. Therefore, minimising the stress of having to find the right words to express yourself, as you undergo a deep dive to gain & maximise your insight, clarity & understanding as to where you are in your life right now.
Session 2: Narrative drawing – What’s shaping you?
Time to give yourself more credit! In this session, you’ll gain a broad perspective on your life’s journey & therefore enabling you to better understand what’s shaping how you’re currently showing-up in your life right now.
Session 3: Painting – An emotional release
You’ll acquire an empowering tool that allows you to hold space for yourself whilst you identify, acknowledge, process and safely release pent-up emotions & reveal new insights you never knew before.
Session 4: From Survival to strength – A visualisation collage
Feeling like you're dropping the ball? If you’ve attended the Nurture(Me) & Rise(Above) workshop, this session will offer something similar in that you’ll get to acknowledge, appreciate & celebrate your strengths, but also cultivate that discernment between when you were surviving and when you were being strong.
Session 5: What do you see? - Setting those goals.
Have you set a goal & not followed it through? This can damage the trust that we have with ourselves. In this session, you’ll learn how to mend your relationship with goal-setting & have those life aspirations re-ignited.
